Logan's dance

Logan loves to dance. Well, really just bend his knee to the beat of the music, but still it's very cute. (At least we think it is.) So this morning I had one of the music stations playing on the TV and Logan really got into it. Here is a video of him "dancing". (Be warned, it is about a minute long...)

Pictures, Pictures, and more Pictures!!!

Yesterday I took Logan to get his 9 month and Halloween pictures done. We went to the portrait studio at Walmart, because let's face it, they are cheap and I don't like spending lots of money on pictures. They did a good job, but now we have to wait 2 weeks to get the pictures, and then we can't even put them on our computer. The CD was way too expensive. Later that day I decided I needed to find a new place to get pictures done. Preferrably one that doesn't charge a sitting fee. Well, I found one at Babies R Us. They are awesome! A little more expensive than Wal Mart, but they are so much better too. I went there just to ask a few questions about how they did things and they took a couple of free shots of Logan just so I could see how they did their job. I have to say, I was very impressed. And since I was so impressed with them, I made an appointment to get family pictures done on Saturday. It's too easy to get me to say yes when it comes to Logan and Sam. I would do anything for those two!

Say Cheese!

Okay, so Logan has had this thing with cameras so that when I go to take a picture of him, he tends to look incredibly serious, or will turn away. But today for some reason, he has really taken to it. Every time I got the camera out, he would look at me and give me the silliest smile. Maybe it was his new toy that made him smile so much, but I'll take it, regardless. His personality has really started to show in the last couple of days. He is so much fun!

We love you Logan-buddy!

First Kiss

So, Logan has a new friend in the area...Kayla. Today was their first play date and they seemed to hit it off pretty well. They played together nicely, and there were lots of hugs and kisses given. It was so cute to watch him interact with another little person his age. She is absolutely adorable. She has such a fun personality that matches Logan very well. I'm glad that Logan has someone to play with now. He loves to watch other kids and now he has someone to hang out with.
Welcome to the neighborhood Kayla!!!

Phantom

Yesterday Sam and I saw The Phantom of the Opera at The Paramount in Seattle. What an amazing experience! I had never seen it before (except for the movie version, but that doesn't really count). Sam had seen it once or twice (he couldn't remember, which I thought was funny). Anyway, the production itself was unbelievable. I was so amazed at everything. It had drawn me in so much that when it was time for intermission, I had forgotten where I was and who I was with. The show was incredible! Hopefully we will be able to go to more shows like that when they come to town. One day perhaps Logan will join us and enjoy it just as much as we did.

IKEA

This weekend Sam and I made the trek to Ikea. Both of us cannot stand that place. I know lots of people like it, and we decided that if we had all the money and time in the world, we might enjoy it too. However, we had one thing in mind to get and it took what seemed like forever to find and purchase.

Since Logan is now getting into EVERYTHING we needed to buy a TV stand, but finding one that would fit was difficult. Ikea was the only place that we found that had something that would work for us. So on Saturday, we drove down with Logan to Ikea. Logan seemed to do all right, but he is a huge fan of people and lights, and Ikea supplied both. :) After walking around for a bit, we found what we were looking for. But then, we had to find our way to the warehouse to pick up the item so that we could purchase it. I think that's what took us the longest. We managed to find a quick route, but I kept seeing things that I liked, so we had a couple of detours (this is one of the problems of the store for me, I like what Ikea has, but when I have only one thing in mind, I get carried away with all the other stuff while on my way to get the one item I originally went to get - consequently, that's why Sam doesn't like it.)

So we eventually got what we went for (and a couple of other things as well) and made our way home where Sam set it up for us. Logan even helped a bit...or maybe he just got in the way. :) I have to admit, I'm quite fond of it. It makes the TV area look so much better than it did, and makes it rather difficult for Logan to get to the wires and TV itself.

"I'm so glad when daddy comes home"

Logan has become a total "daddy's boy". He seems to know about what time Sam should be home from work, and if for some reason Sam isn't home, Logan starts throwing fits. I've started taking him on walks if I know Sam will be late, at least that keeps Logan occupied. It's all I can do to keep my sanity anymore. But the minute Sam walks through the door, Logan is a completely different baby from what I've had to deal with all day. It's so much fun to watch the two of them interact. You can just tell how much Logan adores his daddy. Today Logan went crazy (even more so than normal) when Sam came home. I just had to get some of it on video. Here's a little bit of it.

Other news about Logan, he got his two front top teeth today. It has been horrific while they were coming in, but at least they have finally poked through. Maybe now we will all get some sleep. He is crawling and has been for awhile. Now he is a pro at standing while holding on to the couch or whatever and has even started "cruising". Today he took a couple of steps while I held his hand. I'm hoping that was just by accident and that he really didn't know what he was doing. That's what I keep telling myself anyway. He definitely keeps me busy, but he is so much fun. He's even more fun when Sam is home. :)

Proud to be an American

So, I'm not one who likes political stuff. In fact, the whole thing really irritates me. This year is especially hard, what with the Presidential election and all. It really bothers me that I don't like either of the candidates, but still feel like I have to vote. In all honesty, if I do vote, I'll probably just vote for whoever Sam votes for.
With that said, I know there are probably many of you who have seen this video, but I really liked it and wanted to share it. Still not sure who to vote for, if I vote, but I've got a little bit of time to figure that out. In the meantime, this video reminded me of just how grateful I am to live in a free country. I'm so thankful for the men and women who serve our country!

(If you haven't seen it, make sure to watch the whole thing...very moving.)
Oh, and it's a "commercial" for McCain done by a soldier. Obviously not approved by McCain, but it's a great video to watch.

UW vs. BYU

BYU finally came to Seattle to play against UW. Since Sam and I both went to BYU, we decided to go support them. Technically though, Sam was very excited that they were coming, as was his dad and brother (Josh). I went only because it was something to do and Sam really wanted me to go. I do like to watch football, it's pretty much the only sport I can semi-tolerate, (well, basketball too) I'm just not as big of a fan as the rest of the family I guess. But that doesn't matter. This game was incredible. It started off with BYU making the first touchdown, then UW...it was a close game the entire time. What was absolutley crazy, and I have to side with UW on this one...the penalty against UW for celebrating too much after scoring a touchdown that brought the game to 27-28 (in favor of BYU) was ridiculous. But I guess rules are rules. So, UW had to move back a few yards before they could kick the ball over the goal post (sorry, don't know what that's called...not a huge football fan obviously). With only 2 seconds left in the game, BYU stopped UW from kicking the ball. Now, people think this is due to the ridiculous penalty, but who's to say that this wouldn't have happened if the penalty was never called? I like to think that it would have happened anyway, and BYU would still have won.

Despite the fact that I'm not a die hard fan, this game was amazing! The energy from the fans was incredible. It definitely was a lot of fun and I'm glad we had the chance to go.

Smart Shopper in training

So every week I look through the ads, clip coupons...basically do whatever it takes to save a bit of money. This morning as I was looking through the ads, I left for a minute to go get the scissors so I could clip coupons. When I came back in the room, just a few seconds later, this is what I found...

Ahh, they learn so young. :)

I don't like peas, mom

Logan is becoming more and more like his dad every day. He will usually eat just about anything we give him, except peas. (Which is similar to Sam) He used to eat them just fine, but for some reason he doesn't like them anymore. Guess we'll keep trying and hope that he will eat them again.

Evergreen State Fair

Yesterday we took Logan to the fair, where we met up with Sam's parents and nephews. It amazes me at how much energy kids have and how much I don't. (sigh) Anyway, we had lots of fun riding on rides, eating lots of food, looking at the animals, and my favorite part...entering Logan in the Diaper Derby. Logan has been crawling for about 2 weeks now and we thought it would be fun to enter him and hoped that he would win. But like most of the babies, he stayed put, looking at everything around him. He didn't even move an inch. Needless to say, he didn't win :( but we love him anyway. He got a "Participation" ribbon...his first ribbon! We all had a great time. Sam and I had intended on only staying for about 2 hours, but we ended up staying for pretty much the whole day. It was more fun than I remember fairs being, but I haven't been to many of them (that I can remember). Logan loved watching all the people and the rides. One day he will actually get to ride them instead of just watch.
