Olivia's poses

Lately I've been catching Olivia doing one of the 4 following "poses". It's mostly the one where she's on all fours, but the others are pretty common around here too. (There's one that's hard to tell, but her feet and arms are on the floor with her little behind up in the air.)

Mix & Match

We've had a couple of nights lately that have become a bit of a struggle putting Logan to bed. We usually put him in his room, say good night and close the door. He usually plays a bit and goes to sleep when he's ready, but at least we don't hear from him. However, the past couple of nights he just sits in his room and screams. So, I went in last night to check on him and he was crying about "Cars" and kept pointing at his pillow. His bedding is from the TV show "Yo Gabba Gabba". I asked him if he wanted to sleep with Muno, and he said "NO". I continued naming all the characters on the show and he said no to all of them but kept wimpering about "Cars". Luckily I had purchased a "Cars" toddler bed set awhile ago, but then he was into the other show, so we have been trying to sell it. I pulled out the pillow case and bedspread and covered his pillow and bed. He seemed fine, so I left him. Not a minute later and he was screaming again. The end result...

He's got a mixed bed set. Cars pillow and bedspread, Yo Gabba Gabba pillow and sheets. Once I figured to put 2 pillows on his bed, he was fine and we didn't hear from him the rest of the night. I don't like caving in, but to save my sanity this is something that needed to be done.

A day at the park and other stuff

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that the kids and I just had to take advantage of it. So, we went to a park. Both kids enjoyed swinging on the swings and Logan enjoyed a rousing 2 minute game of basketball with other toddlers at the park as well as learning to climb up ladders and such with mom holding her breath and hoping he wouldn't fall. He has become a huge fan of slides lately too. We spent a wonderful 2 hours at the park before heading home for lunch. I can't wait for it to warm up a bit more so we can have more days like this. I'm sure Logan and Olivia are looking forward to it as much as I am.

The other stuff includes Olivia just being cute. She is sitting up and scooting around. She is so close to crawling it scares me. She gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth. I'm just hoping she holds off on the crawling thing for a couple more months, but I don't think I'll be so lucky.

The kids

The past couple of weeks has been incredibly rough! Olivia has gone from world's best sleeper to hardly sleeping at all. And Logan, well he's your typical 2 year old with LOTS of tantrums. It seems that lately I've been running on empty. I haven't been sure how I've been doing it. I've been telling Sam the past couple of nights that I just needed to get away for awhile...a week would be nice. But today I was thinking that maybe a weekend away would be enough. And then I realized that my kids need me and love me, and I love them and need them. Today really hasn't been as bad as past days. What really helped was this morning. I picked up Olivia because she was crying and she gave me the biggest, wettest kiss on the cheek you can imagine and just hung onto my neck giving me a huge hug! It was so sweet. All I could do was just hug and kiss her back. Logan saw this going on and decided he didn't want to be left out. So he grabbed my legs and just hugged me for a few minutes. When I was able to get down to his level, he gave me a kiss on the cheek and said "I love you". Not in so clear of words, but he said it. He's said it before, but today it really hit me. Having my kids hold on to me the way they were this morning, I realized that I am one of the luckiest people on earth. Having two kids so close together is incredibly rough, but moments like this one are so precious and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

And in case you were wondering, at 6 months, Olivia is at 17lbs 14 ozs, and 26 3/4" tall. (75th %tile and 90th %tile). At 2 years, Logan is 31lbs and 35 3/4" tall. (75th %tile and 90th %tile.)
