Dear Olivia,

Thank you for sleeping all through the night last night. Although I woke up several times just to check on you, I desperately needed the sleep and cannot thank you enough for allowing me to get it. You are the sweetest little girl a mom could ask for.

Thank you for your gorgeous smiles and adorable giggles that you decided to share with me today. I knew you had a great smile, I was just waiting to see it. What I wasn't expecting were those cute giggles you shared while watching Logan. It seems as though you and Logan have a bond already and that makes me so happy!

Thank you for being such an awesome baby despite the reflux problem. One day you will grow out of it, but until then, no matter how much you scream in pain, I will always be there for you and try to comfort you as much as I can.

I love you more than words can say!

Love,
Mom

Woodland Park Zoo

Yesterday was our 2nd annual family trip to the zoo. Olivia slept the entire time, which made things easier for us. If she's not sleeping she wants to be held all the time. Logan seemed to have a lot of fun. We started out at the petting zoo where Logan got to pet some goats. We saw rabbits, chickens, and cows too. I think the cows were Logan's favorite part of the zoo. After the farm animals we made our way through the zoo and saw penguins, snow leopards, monkeys (of all sorts) and other animals that I can't seem to remember at the moment. All in all it was a fun, but exhausting day.

Here are some pictures of Logan just having fun at the zoo.

6 weeks

I can't believe it's been 6 weeks since Olivia joined us. It's gone by too fast I think. She had her Dr. appt. and these are the results...

Weight 13lbs 2oz (above the 95th percentile)
Height 24 inches (also above the 95th percentile)

Yes, you could say that she's a big baby and it would be very true! At 6 weeks she is the size of your average 4 month old. As of earlier this week, she is now wearing 6 month size clothing. It's crazy to me, but she's doing very well, and at least she's proportionate in both height and weight. Unfortunately though, she does have acid reflux which explains the massive amounts of screaming and spitting up after each feeding. Hopefully though, that will all calm down with the help of medicine. It breaks my heart to hear her scream after she eats. I can tell she's in a lot of pain and there has been nothing I can do for her. I really hope the medicine works for her.

Other than that though, she's doing very well. She can hold her head up for a period of time, she loves to look around and coo at everything. I think her favorite thing is to watch Logan dance. She's always looking at him and laughing. (At least, I think she would be laughing if she could, she has that look in her eyes.) She is up for most of the day, but luckily takes a good nap around the same time as Logan and she sleeps so well at night. She goes down around 9:30 and wakes up around 3, then again around 7:30. I feel like I got very lucky with her and her night time sleeping habits. I just hope it continues.

We are so lucky to have Olivia in our lives. She really is the sweetest baby (when she's not in pain). I don't know if she'll ever comprehend just how much she is loved by her parents, but we do love her so very much!

Mama's little helper

So today has been one of those days. Olivia screaming for most of it, Logan throwing tantrums for no apparent reason, and me, well, I was crying right along with my kids. Olivia is not quite 6 weeks old yet and I've only had both kids by myself for 4 or 5 days. I shouldn't complain, I really have been blessed to have had Sam home and help from family. I just haven't gotten the hang of things yet. Anyway, just as I thought I couldn't take it anymore things got a little quieter. Logan had stopped his tantrum. I knew he had found something to entertain himself, I just didn't know what and really didn't care at that point. At least he wasn't crying anymore. A few minutes later, I heard silverware being dropped. I ran into the kitchen only to discover that Logan was unloading the dishwasher...and doing a pretty good job too.

Yes, those are the dishes he unloaded on the counter.

The silverware he put away.

Logan also helped me with the laundry, and with Olivia by trying to tickle her when she cried, wiping up spit up, and getting diapers and wipes. He really is a good helper.

What is he thinking?

Where does he come up with these ideas of his? Taking off the back part of the truck so he can sit on it? Not something I would've thought to do. But he's always doing something like this. He's just too smart for me. He's even closing doors behind him as he leaves a room or when he goes outside to play in the back. He amazes me every day at what he can do.

Olivia's blessing

Today was Olivia's blessing day. It couldn't have gone any better. She slept through the entire thing which is just awesome. I was so afraid that she would scream...she's got an excellent set of lungs. But she slept through it and even allowed people to pass her around so she could be held by all throughout the meeting. She really is just the sweetest baby!
