Last Night

I'm just too excited to not share this. For the very first time, Logan slept through the night! I was so surprised when I woke up this morning to find that Logan was still sleeping. We put him down around 9pm and he didn't wake up til 7am. I've been waiting a long time for him to do this. Now we just need him to sleep in his crib instead of his bouncy seat.

We've survived...So far

It has been almost 4 months since Logan was born. We weren't sure we would survive the first 2 months what with all the exhaustion and waking up every couple of hours in the middle of the night, but Logan sure has proved to us that he's worth it! It has been so much fun to watch him grow. He seemed small at birth, but boy has he proven us otherwise. We're not sure, but we're guessing he's almost 17 lbs. now! Most babies we've heard weigh that much by their first birthday. But Logan is quite the cute little chunk.

I have to brag a bit and say that he has the best personality a mom could hope for. He just seems so laid back and happy all the time. (Well, unless he's hungry or tired.) We've noticed that he loves t.v. (probably not the best thing for him) and that sports, especially basketball is his favorite thing to watch. He's becoming more and more like his dad every day.

Since I started this blog a bit late, here are some pictures of him from past months....

New Year's Eve

Most people spend New Year's Eve with family and friends playing games, watching movies, going to parties, or whatever keeps them entertained. This year, Sam and I thought it would be fun to have a baby.
Logan William Beard joined our family on December 31, 2007 at 2:39pm, weighing 7 lbs. 15 ozs. and was 18.5 inches long. It was a long 20 hour labor, but well worth it. He was a few weeks early, as his due date wasn't until Jan. 17, 08, but we figured we would let him come early and at least get that tax break. :) I don't even think we realized it was New Year's Eve until one of the nurses came in at midnight to say "Happy New Year".

What a great way to end 2007 and start 2008!!!

Another Move (and in December???)

You would think that since we had just moved into a larger condo and had done all that remodeling that we would stay there longer than one year. But you would be wrong. Apparently, Sam and I like the challenge of packing up all of our stuff and moving to a new place every year.

It's funny how things work out. I told Sam after our last move that there would be no way I would move again in December. But here we were, packing up our things and moving. Only this time, I was 8 months pregnant and on bed rest. That made for a very fun time.
Long story short, some guy in our condo complex was interested in a 3 bedroom condo and we had one. We had been talking about eventually getting a house, what with a baby coming and all. I didn't think it would actually happen. We let this guy see it without putting it on the market. I figured if he was interested then we would let him know when we decided to sell. He had other things in mind. A few hours after seeing our place, he put in an offer and we accepted. So there we were, selling our place, with no idea of where to go. Luckily we found a development in Bothell, WA that was currently under construction. We found a house we liked, made an offer and after it was built, we moved in. (Dec. 14, 2007)

Maybe this time we'll stay put for awhile. :)

One last vacation before the baby!

Since we were expecting a baby boy in January, we figured we should take one last vacation before our family started. We knew that once he came, it would be hard for just the two of us to go anywhere alone. San Diego, CA was our destination of choice. It was far enough away, but not too far. We went in September of 2007 thinking the weather would be comfortable. Who knew that 70 degrees in San Diego is NOT the same as 70 in Seattle. Okay, so lots of people probably know that, but Sam and I are sometimes not so bright when it comes to weather.

Our first day in San Diego, we decided to go to Sea World. It was so much fun. Of course we saw all the shows we could see, and obviously we sat in the splash sections. We were having so much fun that we didn't really realize that we were getting burned. I think it crossed my mind once to get some sunscreen, but I didn't act on that thought. Sam says he thought it once too. We should've listened to our instincts. The first day in San Diego was fun, but boy were we burned bad! We had all sorts of plans like going to the beach, the zoo, and going anywhere that sounded fun. We still did all those things, but they weren't nearly as enjoyable as they could be. Being out in the sun when burned is not something I would recommend. We tried to stay in the shade as much as possible. Poor Sam all he really wanted to do was go to the beach for a day or two, but we couldn't even spend more than a couple of hours there without being totally miserable. Despite all that, knowing it was our last vacation with just the two of us, we had a good time.

Las Vegas

So, July 2007 was full of family reunions. However, one stands out to me most because I was able to go to Vegas for the first time. I have to admit, I was pretty excited to be able to see what everyone was talking about. Granted, we weren't there for very long since it was just a stop before going to Zion's for a family reunion.
Really though, the only stand out memory I have is that it was so HOT!!!! 10pm at night, waiting for Sam's parents flight to come in and it was still over 100 degrees! I guess going to Vegas in July is not the way to go. I swore I would never go again, but maybe I can be convinced to go again as long as I'm not pregnant and it is anytime between November and February.
On a brighter note, the M&M store is AWESOME!

Moving Time!

After just a few short months of wedded bliss, we decided to move from one small condo to a little larger condo. We started looking around for a place in August, but found what we were looking for in October. It was a 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo in Redmond, WA. Sam's commute to Microsoft would be impacted. He would have to travel an extra mile or so, which would make his commute be anywhere from 5-10 minutes. Oh the things we have to suffer. ;) It was a place that needed much fixing up, but with the much appreciated help from family, we were able to transform it into a beautiful place to live.
But the real fun story is when we actually moved in to our new place. A day or two before, we got hit with a huge December storm. Did I forget to mention that we moved right before Christmas? What a mistake! We moved out of our old place in the dark since the power was out and had been for a few days. Luckily the power had gone back on at our new place, so at least we had light and heat there. The storm that had hit was so bad, that some places had no power for a week or more. We were so lucky to have had power regained the day we moved in. What a blessing!
The kitchen before we remodeled.

The kitchen afterwards! We are quite proud of it!

Adventures

Our first summer as a married couple, we decided to explore what the great state of Washington had to offer. From Quinalt Lodge on Quinalt Lake to driving the North Cascade Loop, I would say we hit just about everything. It was our plan that one weekend a month during the summer, we would go somewhere. I think the idea started when drove around Mt. Rainier. We thought it would be fun to see what else was out there.
We experienced some random things...like who would have though that Subway in Leavenworth would have no bread? Or that there would be absolutely no rest stops on the North Cascade Loop? (My advice to anyone who decides to drive that would be to stop at any small town you may hit along the way.)
It was a chance to get away from things at home, even if only for a short weekend.

Our Wedding

March 25, 2006...The day we got married. What a busy, fun, exciting, and exhausting day! We couldn't have asked for anything better. We were both so nervous about the weather since it had been raining the previous days, but luckily the rain held out until after we had finished the pictures. It truly was the perfect day!

The Beginning

Sam and I met sometime in the summer of 2005. He would tell you that he first noticed me in August of 2004. Why it took us a year to get together, I have no idea. Perhaps the timing was wrong at that point. I was still in school and too busy to be in any relationship...or so that was my excuse. We started dating in September and totally hit it off. By November we knew that this was it. December 23, 2005 Sam proposed and of course I said yes. I was completely surprised. He kept insisting that he would propose after Christmas. That night was one I'll never forget. Sam was acting so wierd, nothing like himself. He took me to the Botanical Gardens in Bellevue, WA (where he supposedly noticed me for the first time at a singles activity). We went through the gardens so fast, I couldn't figure out why we couldn't just take our time. And of course, Sam was complaining of the weather (it was drizzling a little). We went to the mall to do some very last minute Christmas shopping, and again, he was rushing me through that. I thought this was very wierd for Sam. He wouldn't even let me hold his hand! It turns out he had made reservations for dinner at 8pm and we were pushing the time. So we went to dinner and just sat in silence and ate. It was so awkward, more so than our first date. We ended up just watching a couple that was sitting a few tables away arguing over a present that had been given. He took me home and we just sat on the couch, not really saying anything. All of a sudden Sam mentioned how things never work out the way you plan them, and he proposed to me right then and there.
We have now been married a little over 2 years, and we've never been happier! It's true what they say....Good things come to those who wait!
