"Tagged" but not really

I saw this on my friend's blog and thought it was cute. She didn't tag anyone, and I'm not going to either (since I don't really know how that works). But feel free to go ahead and do it if you want. I thought it was fun.

1) Choose the 4th folder where you store your pictures on your computer.

2) Select the 4th picture in the folder.

3) Explain the picture.

4) Tag 4 people to do the same. No cheating (cropping, editing, etc.) Have fun!!

This is Logan at 5 months in his new toy. He wasn't all that excited about it, but just look at the fuzzy hair (if you can see it)!! Man, I miss that fuzz.

The Dishwasher

What is so fascinating about a dishwasher to a little boy? Well, that's obvious. The answer would be the trouble he can get into. Logan has become obsessed with the dishwasher over the past couple of months, but only recently it has become a real problem. He has taught himself how to push the buttons to start the dishwasher (or stop it if it's all ready running), and how to actually open the dishwasher when it is supposedly closed and locked. There is a button on our dishwasher that can "lock" the other buttons so they can't be messed with, but Logan is smarter than that. He knows how to push the "lock" button so that it unlocks. It was a nice idea, but it doesn't work.
A few days ago while Sam and I were in the living room, Logan wandered into the kitchen to play. I was half asleep on the couch and Sam was watching TV. I guess it got a little too quiet in the kitchen so Sam went to check on things. Turns out, Logan had opened the dishwasher door and found the cap to the liquid jet dry dispenser (that you have to twist to open and close). He opened it and started drinking the jet dry. We weren't sure how long he was doing this, it couldn't have been too long. But it was long enough that Logan made himself sick. Sam could smell the stuff all over Logan's mouth and as I ran to get the phone to call poison control, Logan started to throw it all up. YUCK!!! We were reassured by poison control that he was in no immediate danger and that we should give him sips of water and once he stopped throwing up to give him some milk. Logan just smiled and laughed through it all, I couldn't believe it. He recovered rather quickly and all is well. However, the dishwasher has become quite the fascination with Logan since then. He continues to try to go back for more jet dry. I turn my back for one second and he's opened the dishwasher again and trying to get to the jet dry. He's very determined. It must taste good to a 1 year old, although by the smell I would think it wouldn't. Sam and I have struggled for days to find ways to keep Logan away from it, and it wasn't until just this afternoon that I realized the answer lied in duct tape!!! So I went looking for some, but couldn't find any. I did however, find some packaging tape that I placed over the dishwasher handle. It worked like a charm. Logan tried so hard to get it to open, but was unsuccessful. HAHA!!! You'd think we would've thought of this earlier. Oh well. It's going to be a pain for us, but at least it keeps little hands and mouths away from where they shouldn't be.
(Oh, and the chips on the floor next to Logan in the picture...he had opened the pantry, pulled them out, and carried them with him for awhile before going to the dishwasher. Ahh, boys! You gotta love 'em.)

The world of Facebook

Can anyone explain to me the point of Facebook? It seems that everyone I know has an account. So, today I got curious about it and signed up. Only, now I don't really know what to do with it. There has to be some reason for it, otherwise it woudldn't be so popular, right? Well, perhaps over time I'll get it figured out. :)

An Update

So this past week has been full of ups and downs for us. Sam had been hearing rumors that Microsoft was going to be laying off lots of people, and of course we panicked a little bit about that. Turns out that there are lay offs, but luckily Sam won't be affected by it. Thank goodness for that.

Logan has been going through the "I'm not going to sleep at night" phase for awhile. He would wake up just screaming, and nothing we did could calm him down. I couldn't tell if it was teething, or a cold, or something different all together. Well, yesterday I happened to notice that 2 molars had popped through. That's probably the reason for the sleepless nights. Last night he actually slept! I just hope that it continues. At least, until the next round of teeth. He has started to say "bye" while waving at whoever is leaving. Most of the time though, he'll say it after the person has left, but at least he's saying it. I even heard him say "hi" this morning when I went in his room to get him. I don't know if he really meant to say it, or if it was just gibberish that happened to sound like "hi". Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Sweet Cinnamon Roll

Yesterday we went to The Maltby Cafe for breakfast. Well, really it was 2 in the afternoon, but we ordered breakfast. If Sam hadn't told me about it, I would never have known where it was. Apparently I've driven past it several times, not knowing it was there. It's located in an older building in the basement. You have to know where it is to find it, but it is definitely worth the find. I have to admit that it was by far the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Sam ordered a cinnamon roll that was so huge he had to take half of it home with him. He kept saying it was the size of 4 regular cinnamon rolls. It was absolutely huge and took up the entire plate. I had never seen one that big before, it was incredible! This picture doesn't do it justice. The plate that it's on is a regular size plate, not a small one that we thought it was on. Unfortunately I left my camera at home so we didn't get a picture of what Sam ordered. I had just your basic scrambled eggs with ham and cheese, but it was still very good. I'm hoping we can make it to this cafe more often since it is only about 15 minutes from our place. The only problem is that it's always so busy, it's hard to get in. But it's definitely worth the wait!

Logan's 1 year stats

Today we had Logan's 1 year appointment. Turns out he weighs less and is a lot taller than I thought.

Weight: 25lbs 5ozs. - 75th %tile
Height: 31 3/4 inches - 95th %tile

I had thought that he weighed around 30lbs, but perhaps that's because I seem to be getting weaker every day...that and he eats A LOT!!!! He is very active though which is most likely why he eats so much. He has mastered running through the house. His favorite game to play is "catch me if you can". It starts with him looking at one of us and giving us a huge grin and giggle, followed by him running behind the couch. At this point, we are supposed to go after him where he continues to run and squeal in delight. If we don't go after him, he starts to yell at us and comes back around the couch and gives us a look. He is quite good with the facial expressions. Another thing that he loves to do is point at any kind of food that he wants and say "mmm...mum mum mummmm" He also says this after he eats it if he likes it. He amazes me every day with what he learns. This next year should be interesting, entertaining, and fun.

Welcome 2009!!

2009 is going to be an awesome year! It's a new year which will bring new adventures and a new baby!!! That's right. We are expecting baby #2 in July. July 19th is the due date, but we all know how those are rarely correct. We are so excited to welcome this new baby into our lives this year. Logan is absolutely adorable and so easy going, we are really hoping that this one will be just as great. This is one adventure that I hope we are ready for. Having 2 kids under 2 is a little scary, but it's been done before by others. I just hope we can handle it.
