While Sam was away

Sam's grandma passed away the day before Mother's Day. As a result, he and his family travelled to Salt Lake City to attend the funeral. He left Friday morning and came home early Sunday morning. That meant that I had two days and two nights alone with the kids. Not a big deal, really, but they can be a handful and I depend on Sam coming home in the evenings after work to help out. Needless to say, I panicked. Luckily I had the help from my brother on Friday to keep the kids entertained and Sam's brother and sister-in-law came by both Friday and Saturday evenings. All of them were lifesavers!

Friday morning I packed the kids up and we headed down to Renton to visit Uncle David and cousin Tanner. We had a great time at Lake Boren Park. The swings were favorites of both kids, but Logan seemed to enjoy running in the big open space. Logan even befriended a dog that was out playing catch. He got a kick out of watching the dog chase after the ball. Olivia and Tanner were content to sit around and watch, seeing as how they really can't do much else. :) It was a beautiful day and a gorgeous park. Thanks Uncle David for letting us join you and Tanner!

Thank goodness the weather was great! It allowed us to go for many walks. The kids just love their wagon. Every afternoon we go out for a walk and then stop by the neighborhood park to play for a bit before dinner. (this picture was taken with my cell phone, not the best quality.)

It was pretty interesting though to see how the kids knew their dad wasn't around. Both evenings around 5pm, they got all out of sorts. Luckily Uncle Caleb, Aunt Lina, and cousin Rebecca showed up. It really helped to have them here, even though I know it must've been a hassle to pack up their stuff and bring a brand new baby. I don't know if they'll realize just how grateful I am that they did it though.

Sunday came and Sam was home. Olivia was the most excited to see her daddy. It was so cute to watch the excitement on her face and how she couldn't stop jumping around the way she does. Logan was excited to see his daddy too, although I think he was a bit hesitant to get too excited. I think he may have thought that dad was going to leave again. At least things are back to normal...for now.

Such cute pictures! Good job making through the weekend! I know that that is an accomplishment. It was fun to see pictures of David and his baby. Good job Olivia and all of the words that she is using. She is growing and learning so quickly!
