A little something about nothing

So absolutely nothing has been going on around here. The weather, thankfully, is starting to warm up. It's been miserable with having a very long winter...or so it seems. Perhaps we will be able to get out this weekend and do something fun as a family. But then again, we may just chill at home and rest up for the busy times we have ahead of us. Next Friday we are going to travel to Moses Lake so that Logan can meet his great grandparents, that and I'm dying to see my extended family. Then it's off to Cannon Beach, OR on Sunday morning. Luckily we will be able to make a pitstop at my parents house, for Logan's sake. I'm not looking forward to such a long drive with a 6 month old, but hopefully it will all work out.
Sam and I are anxious for Cannon Beach. Hopefully Logan will go along with it. He's not so good when not in his familiar environment. But he has to learn sometime I suppose. Sam is excited to bring his Rock Band game down and have people to play with. I must admit, I've not been the best at playing XBox with Sam lately.
Well, hopefully next week we will have some exciting posts to share!

First Food

So we started solids today...rice cereal. He did really well, despite the mess. (We were expecting it though.) He seemed to enjoy it since he ate it all and still wanted more when he was done. Logan has no patience though, if Sam or I took what he thought was too long, he would start banging his fists on the tray of his high chair. It was very cute and we tried to get it on video, but Logan seems to know when the camera comes out and gets very shy. Oh well.

So Proud!

I realize that the majority of the blog entries are of Logan, but Sam and I don't do much and let's face it, Logan is our life right now. :) We love it!

For the past couple of days Logan has been trying to sit up by himself, but only managed to do so for a second or two. Well, today, he sat on his own for well over a minute before falling over and hitting his head on the toy behind him. No worries, it didn't seem to phase him one bit. He is 100% boy! I am just so proud of him! Only 5 months and sitting on his own all ready. Okay, okay, I'm not sure when exactly they are supposed to be doing this, but just let me brag. He's such an amazing kid.

Our Goal

It seems that it takes a video game to get Sam and myself into shape. Those of you who know us, will know that Sam and I became friends because of the XBox game Dance Dance Revolution. (I know, we are such dorks sometimes.) But it seems that that game just hasn't been enough for us lately. Plus playing that with a baby in the house is rather difficult. So we decided we needed something different.
So...
Sam and I got the infamous Wii Fit game...finally! We had it preordered a long time ago, but it only just arrived yesterday. It is so much fun and so cool. Those of you who have it know what I'm talking about. It measures your BMI and helps you set goals for what you want your BMI to be. We have a long way to go, but the games are so much fun. It seems so easy, so this morning while Logan was napping, I was playing. I didn't realize just how much of a workout I was getting until later in the day. Man, my body aches, but that's a good thing. Since this game keeps track of everything you do and how often you do it, I'm hoping it will be a great motivator for both Sam and myself to keep at it. And hopefully by the end of October we will be in shape. That's when our goal is supposed to be met, according to the game. I guess only time will tell if this will actually work for us.

Growing up so fast

Well, it seems that Logan has taken to a sippy cup rather well. But honestly, that's just what it looks like. He hasn't wanted a bottle much today and we had heard and read that now is a good time to introduce a cup so we went out and got one for him. Well, he was great at grabbing it and sticking it in his mouth like he was supposed to, but as for actually drinking from it...well we still have to work on that. Maybe he really wasn't hungry today. But that is so out of character for him. I guess he was just having one of those days.

We are going to start him on solids as soon as his high chair gets here. I really think Logan is ready despite what his doctor says. She wanted us to wait until he was 6 months, but he's 5 months now and giving us all the signs that he's ready. It should be interesting and I'll post pictures of that once it happens. I am ready for a huge mess since he is messy now with just a bottle. :)

Yard work

Oh the joys of having a home with a yard. Granted our backyard is incredibly small, still it needs to be maintained. Weeds have overtaken the sides of the fence as you can see in the picture. So this morning I went out to weed. The weather was supposed to be in the mid 80's today so Logan and I went out bright and early (730am) to start weeding. Even at that hour it was too warm. As I was starting to weed I had flashbacks to when I was a teenager and my mom telling me to go outside and weed. Oh how I hated to weed. And, apparently, I still do. So I took a bit of a break and in doing so, told Logan that he would just have to finish weeding for me. No kidding, this is the look he gave me....

Not liking to weed must run in the family. (That, or maybe it was the hat I was making him wear) He cracks me up with the faces he makes. He sure knows how to express himself. Oh, and the break I took, I'm still on it...several hours later. :) One day I will finish.

A good reminder

Have you ever had one of those days...you know the days you wish you could just hide from? That's the day I've been having, until Sam showed me some pictures that he took of Logan. It just reminded me that things never really are as bad as I think they are. He really does make everything worth it!
