UW vs. BYU

BYU finally came to Seattle to play against UW. Since Sam and I both went to BYU, we decided to go support them. Technically though, Sam was very excited that they were coming, as was his dad and brother (Josh). I went only because it was something to do and Sam really wanted me to go. I do like to watch football, it's pretty much the only sport I can semi-tolerate, (well, basketball too) I'm just not as big of a fan as the rest of the family I guess. But that doesn't matter. This game was incredible. It started off with BYU making the first touchdown, then UW...it was a close game the entire time. What was absolutley crazy, and I have to side with UW on this one...the penalty against UW for celebrating too much after scoring a touchdown that brought the game to 27-28 (in favor of BYU) was ridiculous. But I guess rules are rules. So, UW had to move back a few yards before they could kick the ball over the goal post (sorry, don't know what that's called...not a huge football fan obviously). With only 2 seconds left in the game, BYU stopped UW from kicking the ball. Now, people think this is due to the ridiculous penalty, but who's to say that this wouldn't have happened if the penalty was never called? I like to think that it would have happened anyway, and BYU would still have won.

Despite the fact that I'm not a die hard fan, this game was amazing! The energy from the fans was incredible. It definitely was a lot of fun and I'm glad we had the chance to go.

Smart Shopper in training

So every week I look through the ads, clip coupons...basically do whatever it takes to save a bit of money. This morning as I was looking through the ads, I left for a minute to go get the scissors so I could clip coupons. When I came back in the room, just a few seconds later, this is what I found...

Ahh, they learn so young. :)

I don't like peas, mom

Logan is becoming more and more like his dad every day. He will usually eat just about anything we give him, except peas. (Which is similar to Sam) He used to eat them just fine, but for some reason he doesn't like them anymore. Guess we'll keep trying and hope that he will eat them again.

Evergreen State Fair

Yesterday we took Logan to the fair, where we met up with Sam's parents and nephews. It amazes me at how much energy kids have and how much I don't. (sigh) Anyway, we had lots of fun riding on rides, eating lots of food, looking at the animals, and my favorite part...entering Logan in the Diaper Derby. Logan has been crawling for about 2 weeks now and we thought it would be fun to enter him and hoped that he would win. But like most of the babies, he stayed put, looking at everything around him. He didn't even move an inch. Needless to say, he didn't win :( but we love him anyway. He got a "Participation" ribbon...his first ribbon! We all had a great time. Sam and I had intended on only staying for about 2 hours, but we ended up staying for pretty much the whole day. It was more fun than I remember fairs being, but I haven't been to many of them (that I can remember). Logan loved watching all the people and the rides. One day he will actually get to ride them instead of just watch.

Fun at the Zoo

We took Logan to the zoo today. I've been wanting to go to the zoo for quite some time. I've always enjoyed the zoo, but today was even better. I guess it's because we had someone to share it with. I've never been with a kid before. It was so much fun showing Logan all the animals. He didn't pay all that much attention to the animals (he was more interested in the other kids running around), but there were a few "ooohs", "aahs", and other baby babble when Logan saw animals. He was just so much fun to watch and it just showed Sam and me a different perspective on the zoo. This is something I hope we can do more often as a family. Here are some pics of our zoo experience.

Birthday Bash

Okay, so this party was actually last week, but our camera broke. Unfortunately it broke during the party so we didn't get as many pictures as we would have liked to.

So, last Saturday (August 23) was Sam's mom's birthday party. Technically her birthday isn't until the 3rd of September, but it's never too early for a party! She is turning 60 so we had to celebrate...no excuses.

The day started off with Sam and Logan heading up to his parents house to help decorate for the party while his mom, her friend Kathy, and I went to get massages. Ah, that was great! (note to self, must do that more often.) At 5, the party started. There was lots of amazing food and fun games to play. Logan had fun being with his aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and friends. He has become a real people person which I think is great. Anyway, the party was a success. We all had fun. Here are just a couple of pictures we were able to take before the camera broke. (it broke fairly early on in the party...oh well.)

Latest on Logan

Lately, Logan has found a new favorite position to sleep. I know we aren't supposed to let them have blankets, but Logan will NOT sleep without his. We've even tried taking it away from him later, but he wakes up screaming. So we caved in and we let him sleep with it. It's the only way for us to get some sleep around here. He's been waking up more frequently lately. We are still trying to figure out if it's because he needs more food during the day, or if it's teething pain.

As for teething, he now has his 2 bottom front teeth and more are on their way. The 2 top front are making their way as well as more bottom teeth. I'm anxious for this to be over with. Logan has been real crabby lately...I miss my sweet boy.

One more thing about Logan...today he was able to stand on his own as long as he was holding on to something (ie, the couch, our knees, or whatever). We were very excited about this, but soon realized that this means he'll be walking in a few months. Aagh!

Looks like Logan is just like his dad. He loves electronics and music.
Oh, and don't worry, we aren't horrible parents. Sam was right behind Logan, you just can't see him in the picture.
