Kids will be kids....

I let the kids play out in the backyard while I stayed in to do so much needed cleaning and organizing. After a few minutes, I realized it was quiet...a little too quiet. So I went outside to check on them.

The sand and water table had collected lots of water from the rain over the last couple of days. My guess is Logan decided to make mud by mixing in nearby dirt. They then preceded to fling it up in the air (aiming for the house mostly). They were having so much fun, that I just let them continue. I figured it's just dirt and baths can take care of that. :)

You can't really tell from the pictures, but they were soaked, and very dirty...but they were happy.

Running, Jumping, and Tumbling

That is the kind of morning my kids had. They were in heaven. If anything allows them to run, jump, tumble, throw balls, or whatever, my kids are lovin' it. I had never heard of Northwest Aerials until recently. A friend of mine who works there told me about it. On Friday mornings, they have an open play for kids ages 5 and under. I'm so glad we went. It wasn't too crowded and both kids had so much fun that they crashed when we got home. And, in my opinion, anything that can wear out my kids like that is AWESOME! I'm thinking we'll do this more often.

A morning with Tanner

Tanner is my absolutely adorable little nephew. He came over for a bit while his dad had a meeting to go to. We ventured over to the neighborhood park to play with the playgroup, then took a nice walk. Once we got home, we had lunch, and Olivia passed out on the floor. She never does that. But Tanner had both kids so excited, that I'm not surprised she was so worn out after only a couple of hours. We spent the rest of our short time together playing with toys. Once Tanner had to leave, both Logan and Olivia started to throw fits. Logan kept asking "where did my Tanner go?" Olivia was just mad. She kept pointing at the door. I guess we'll have to get together more often with little Tanner since the kids had so much fun.

Date night

Sam and I rarely go out. It's not for the lack of babysitters and what not, it's just that we're too lazy to ask anyone to watch the kids. Then there's the feeling guilty that someone else has to take care of our kids while we're out having fun...The list could go on and on as to why we don't go out. But we have been needing a good night "out". So the other night we decided to have a date night - in. We put the kids to bed (we're lucky they sleep through the night, mostly) then Sam made Orange Julius and popped popcorn while I ran out to a Redbox to get a movie. The movie of choice...appropriatley titled "Date Night". Hilarious. The rule was anything goes...but we couldn't talk about the kids. It felt a lot like it did when we were dating. Good times. I think we'll have to do this more often. I'm surprised it took us nearly 3 years to figure it out.

Miss Independent

Olivia has started to use spoons and forks by herself. We used to be able to sit down and help her eat. Nowadays, if we even try, she'll shriek at us. She loves to do it all by herself. So, no matter how messy it gets (and it gets pretty messy) we let her do it by herself. Afterall, she's not so little anymore. :(

After nearly 14 months...

I finally have a semi decent picture of my kids, together. It's been pretty much impossible to get them in the same shot, and it still is. I just got lucky with this one.

31...It's just a number (that's what I tell myself anyway)

I told myself when I started this blog that I would never blog about my birthday. Well, I'm taking it back. Today is my birthday and it was such a perfect day, that I just have to blog about it.

It started with me waking up after 9am and realizing that I actually got to sleep in! It was an amazing feeling, which quickly vanished when I realized that Sam was going to be very late for work. When he told me that he had taken the day off, the amazing feeling came back. I was going to have a day off from taking care of the kids!!! That's really all I wanted. My wonderful husband gave me the option of him taking care of the kids while I went and did whatever I wanted to, or to pack up and go to the zoo. At first I thought it would be great to go do whatever I wanted to do, but knowing myself, I knew that I would go out for an hour or so, and then come back home, try to relax, only to hear the kids crying and screaming, and me racing down to help Sam take care of them. So, in the end, I chose to go to the zoo with the family. It was great. The weather was beautiful, and the kids had so much fun. Logan loved the penguins and Olivia fell in love with the Meerkats.

After the zoo, the kids took very long naps, which I can only assume was their present to me. (And I loved it!) During that time, Sam and I planned a trip to go to Maui in January. That is something that we have been looking forward to for quite some time and now only have to wait a few more months. Soon dinner time was approaching and Sam had one more birthday surprise for me. He took me out to dinner to El Gaucho. It was fabulous! The whole day was fabulous! I'm so glad that Sam stayed home to help with the kids and that we were able to do so much in one day. I may be biased here, but I think I've got the world's best husband.
