Fun at the Zoo
Birthday Bash
Okay, so this party was actually last week, but our camera broke. Unfortunately it broke during the party so we didn't get as many pictures as we would have liked to.
So, last Saturday (August 23) was Sam's mom's birthday party. Technically her birthday isn't until the 3rd of September, but it's never too early for a party! She is turning 60 so we had to celebrate...no excuses.
The day started off with Sam and Logan heading up to his parents house to help decorate for the party while his mom, her friend Kathy, and I went to get massages. Ah, that was great! (note to self, must do that more often.) At 5, the party started. There was lots of amazing food and fun games to play. Logan had fun being with his aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, and friends. He has become a real people person which I think is great. Anyway, the party was a success. We all had fun. Here are just a couple of pictures we were able to take before the camera broke. (it broke fairly early on in the party...oh well.)

Latest on Logan
Lately, Logan has found a new favorite position to sleep. I know we aren't supposed to let them have blankets, but Logan will NOT sleep without his. We've even tried taking it away from him later, but he wakes up screaming. So we caved in and we let him sleep with it. It's the only way for us to get some sleep around here. He's been waking up more frequently lately. We are still trying to figure out if it's because he needs more food during the day, or if it's teething pain.
As for teething, he now has his 2 bottom front teeth and more are on their way. The 2 top front are making their way as well as more bottom teeth. I'm anxious for this to be over with. Logan has been real crabby lately...I miss my sweet boy.
One more thing about Logan...today he was able to stand on his own as long as he was holding on to something (ie, the couch, our knees, or whatever). We were very excited about this, but soon realized that this means he'll be walking in a few months. Aagh!
Looks like Logan is just like his dad. He loves electronics and music.
Oh, and don't worry, we aren't horrible parents. Sam was right behind Logan, you just can't see him in the picture.

Crawling and Teeth
Okay, so Logan isn't quite crawling yet. He'll move his legs or his arms and then fall, but he's getting there. Every day he gets closer and closer to crawling. It's only a matter of time. We are so not ready for him to be moving around. His rolling is enough for now. But I guess we can't really stop him.
And, as if he wasn't growing too fast for me all ready, this morning dark and early he got his first tooth! Around 4am I woke up to hear Logan screaming like he's never screamed before. I rolled out of bed and went to his room thinking that he just needed a pacifier. But when I got in there, I saw that a pacifier would not do the trick, he was too upset and I could tell he was in pain. So I picked him up and cuddled with him, but nothing seemed to work. Eventually, around 530 he went back to sleep. And this morning when he really woke up, I saw it, his bottom left tooth!
This is all happening too fast for me. Before we know it, he'll be walking and talking and then driving! YIKES!!!

Big Baby!!
Oh, on Friday Logan had his 6 month check up. A little late, but that's okay. Anyway, Logan is doing great! He even did well with his shots, he only cried for a minute or two. He's a tough kid. The Dr. says that he is a bit ahead of his peers with everything. Of course, she was mostly referring to his size, but there are a few things developmentally that he is doing very well with. He's scooting around like crazy now. We've had to baby proof the house a little. A gate or two will have to be bought in the near future as Logan is sure to be crawling soon. It is just so much fun to watch him grow!
His measurements are:
Weight: 21 lbs. 8 ozs. (97th percentile)
Height: 28 1/8 inches (95th percentile)
There you have it! He's a big, healthy baby, but he's our big baby and we love him to pieces!
A picnic and a move
This past Saturday was a busy one. Sam had his annual company picnic, although it seems to be more of a Fair than a Picnic. There was lots and lots of food, rides for the kids, an arcade, shows, bands playing, karoake, carnival games, and pretty much anything else you can think of. It was amazing! We ate til we were full then walked around and thought how much fun this will be next year when Logan is able to enjoy the toddler area.

These pictures don't even show half of what was there. There was just too much.
Once we had enough we left to go to our next activity...helping move my brother from Bellevue to Everett. It was a simple move and Logan seemed to have fun helping. He drove grandpa's truck and was very excited to do so. Okay, so he actually didn't drive, but he was good at posing at the wheel.

So, it doesn't seem like much once it's written down, but Saturday was a blast. It was so much fun to hang out as a family (outside of the house).

Our Summer Trip, Part 3 - Cannon Beach, OR
A week at Cannon Beach, OR...it was so much fun. I love the beach. It's always so calming no matter what the weather is like.
This year was exciting for us because we got to take Logan to the beach for the first time. I know he won't remember it, but it was still fun for me and Sam to watch him be amazed at his surroundings. He wasn't on the beach all that much since every time we took him there, he got upset. I don't think he cared for it all that much. But on a more positive note, he got to know his cousins, or rather, they got to know him. It was fun to watch all the kids interact with each other. It was just too cute!
Some of the things we did while at Cannon Beach were...
*The beach..obviously!
*Cannon Beach, downtown - Sam and I found the cutest ice cream shop. It's called the Picnic Basket. It's totally cute with lots of Tillamook ice cream to choose from, jelly belly beans, saltwater taffy, burgers, fries, and elephant ears. It had a fun atmosphere and hopefully we will get to go there each time we go to Cannon Beach.
*Manzanita - where we ate good mexican food, walked down the street and let the kids go to the beach and then eat ice cream.
*Seaside - We rode the carousel, chased each other with bumper cars, and of course went to the arcade. The arcade is always fun, but there's something about Seaside that makes the arcade better than others. It's just so much fun. Sam and I also hit the outlet mall and bought a couple of things. Such a good deal to be able to shop at an outlet mall and not have to pay tax. It's one of the best feelings. :) And, Sam and I were able to go see a movie!!!! We haven't seen one since the 3rd Pirates of the Carribean. It's been a long time. We saw "Get Smart". We enjoyed it, but afterwards, we agreed it may be awhile before we see another movie again. We prefer to watch movies in the comfort of our own home. Movie theater seats just are not that comfortable.
Yes, this year was fun at Cannon Beach...but there really is no place like home.
