Fun in Texas, Day 2

Our next day visiting, Joel had to go to school. So Sam, LeighAnn, and I packed up the kids and headed out for lunch at Whole Foods and then on to the Austin Zoo. The Austin Zoo is rather small compared to big city zoo's and not too fancy. It's actually a sanctuary for these animals. It's a place where unwanted animals can go and be well taken care of. They were fun to see though. There was everything from lions, tigers, bears, and monkeys, to peacocks, vultures, incredibly large tortoises, and parrots. There was a train ride that we took and we saw some great views of downtown Austin. Wild chickens ran free at the zoo, so we had to be careful not to get in their way. Logan and Bailey seemed to be rather fascinated by the animals that they saw. There were lots of squeals of delight from both babies. It is so much fun to watch how they react to things. I love it! I think that the best part for all of us though were the parrots. They would say the most random things. One bird would say "hello" in many different pitches. At first I thought it was a nice old man, and then a lady, saying hello to us, but when I looked around, all I could find was the bird. Two parrots were absolutely hilarious though. They said things like "polly want a cracker" and "hello brad" and then they would work together and make the Tarzan sounds. It was hysterical.
