A picnic and a move

This past Saturday was a busy one. Sam had his annual company picnic, although it seems to be more of a Fair than a Picnic. There was lots and lots of food, rides for the kids, an arcade, shows, bands playing, karoake, carnival games, and pretty much anything else you can think of. It was amazing! We ate til we were full then walked around and thought how much fun this will be next year when Logan is able to enjoy the toddler area.

These pictures don't even show half of what was there. There was just too much.

Once we had enough we left to go to our next activity...helping move my brother from Bellevue to Everett. It was a simple move and Logan seemed to have fun helping. He drove grandpa's truck and was very excited to do so. Okay, so he actually didn't drive, but he was good at posing at the wheel.

So, it doesn't seem like much once it's written down, but Saturday was a blast. It was so much fun to hang out as a family (outside of the house).

Our Summer Trip, Part 3 - Cannon Beach, OR

A week at Cannon Beach, OR...it was so much fun. I love the beach. It's always so calming no matter what the weather is like.
This year was exciting for us because we got to take Logan to the beach for the first time. I know he won't remember it, but it was still fun for me and Sam to watch him be amazed at his surroundings. He wasn't on the beach all that much since every time we took him there, he got upset. I don't think he cared for it all that much. But on a more positive note, he got to know his cousins, or rather, they got to know him. It was fun to watch all the kids interact with each other. It was just too cute!

Some of the things we did while at Cannon Beach were...
*The beach..obviously!
*Cannon Beach, downtown - Sam and I found the cutest ice cream shop. It's called the Picnic Basket. It's totally cute with lots of Tillamook ice cream to choose from, jelly belly beans, saltwater taffy, burgers, fries, and elephant ears. It had a fun atmosphere and hopefully we will get to go there each time we go to Cannon Beach.

*Manzanita - where we ate good mexican food, walked down the street and let the kids go to the beach and then eat ice cream.

*Seaside - We rode the carousel, chased each other with bumper cars, and of course went to the arcade. The arcade is always fun, but there's something about Seaside that makes the arcade better than others. It's just so much fun. Sam and I also hit the outlet mall and bought a couple of things. Such a good deal to be able to shop at an outlet mall and not have to pay tax. It's one of the best feelings. :) And, Sam and I were able to go see a movie!!!! We haven't seen one since the 3rd Pirates of the Carribean. It's been a long time. We saw "Get Smart". We enjoyed it, but afterwards, we agreed it may be awhile before we see another movie again. We prefer to watch movies in the comfort of our own home. Movie theater seats just are not that comfortable.

Yes, this year was fun at Cannon Beach...but there really is no place like home.

Our Summer Trip, Part 2 - ML to CB

Travelling with a 6 month old is hard enough, but get one that appears to get car sick...that's absolutely no fun at all. Logan had a really rough time in the car, so much so that when we would get him near the car, he started to scream. He got sick a couple of times, which was not fun for us. We tried to time it so that we would start our trip from Moses Lake, WA to Cannon Beach, OR Logan would want to sleep. Luckily, that's what he did for an hour or so. But then he would wake up and scream. We made a pit stop at my parents house, which is about halfway between the two points. Logan had fun playing at grandma's and grandpa's even though they weren't there. I think it was the fact that he wasn't in the car. But then we had to leave to finish our trip. He kicked and screamed while we put him back in the car seat. Sam and I both felt just awful that we had to do this, but it had to be done. Fortunately, he fell asleep after awhile and slept for another hour or so. When he woke up, the screaming started again, and one of us had to sit in the back with him to keep him somewhat entertained. We had to make an unscheduled stop because Logan just wasn't having it. He wanted out of the car so bad. So, we found a little park to go to once we reached Oregon and let Logan play around for a bit. It helped, but we still had a ways to go and so the drama continued as we finished the last couple of hours of our trip. Sam sat in the back with Logan and was excellent at entertaining him, while I drove to Cannon Beach.

Here are some pictures of our stop at a park in Clatskanie, OR

Logan just wanted to play, but he needed to eat as well. He literally pushed me backwards onto the ground as he was fighting me to be free. So, we let him go and he tried to get the bottle himself, but realized that that wasn't going to work. So he finished his bottle and we let him roll around until he was semi-ready to go again.

Our Summer Trip, Part 1 - Moses Lake, WA

June 27-28 was spent in Moses Lake visiting my family. It was so much fun to see everyone again. Friday night was rough on Logan as he wasn't used to being around so many people but he was able to adjust and by Saturday, he was ready to enjoy everyone's company, especially his Grandma and Grandpa Hills and Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma Jones.

One thing I was really looking forward to was Logan meeting his 2nd cousin, Austin. My cousin (Ben) and his wife (Cortney) have a baby boy that is just one day older than Logan. I thought it would be really fun if they could meet each other. I wasn't sure how it would work, since we live in Washington, and they live in California, but this reunion in Moses Lake was able to bring the two together. Finally, at almost 6 months of age, the two boys were able to meet. They seemed to hit it off pretty well. It was fun to see how the two of them interacted, and to notice how similar they were as far as milestones hit, etc.

This really wasn't part of the reunion, but I thought it was too cute to not share...
Saturday morning, while Sam and I were getting ready for the day, I put Logan on the floor for some tummy time. A few minutes later, I heard some unusual noises coming from my little boy. It was as if he was asking for help. When I went over to where he was, I noticed that he has scooted himself backwards, moving himself from the center of the blanket, to underneath his pack n play. It was quite the sight, and of course, me being the awesome mother that I am, went to get the camera before "saving" him.

The rest of the day was spent bowling, eating, swimming, eating, and just having fun with the fam and...eating. There is always so much good food when everyone gets together.

Saturday gave us some great sunshine and very warm weather, so while some went boating, those of us who wanted to take it easy went to my Aunt's house to go swimming. We wanted Logan to get into the water to cool down. At first he wasn't too sure of the idea, but eventually warmed up to it. Of course, having his little tube helped tremendously. And Uncle Aaron was able to help Logan have some fun in the pool (Thanks Aaron!)

It was so much fun to see everyone again, and hopefully, we can get over there more often to visit. I wish I had taken more pictures of what the family was up to, but at the time, I wasn't thinking too clearly. Something I'll regret, but the memories will always be there. And there will always be other times that the family gets together. It wasn't the first time, and definitely not the last either.

A little something about nothing

So absolutely nothing has been going on around here. The weather, thankfully, is starting to warm up. It's been miserable with having a very long winter...or so it seems. Perhaps we will be able to get out this weekend and do something fun as a family. But then again, we may just chill at home and rest up for the busy times we have ahead of us. Next Friday we are going to travel to Moses Lake so that Logan can meet his great grandparents, that and I'm dying to see my extended family. Then it's off to Cannon Beach, OR on Sunday morning. Luckily we will be able to make a pitstop at my parents house, for Logan's sake. I'm not looking forward to such a long drive with a 6 month old, but hopefully it will all work out.
Sam and I are anxious for Cannon Beach. Hopefully Logan will go along with it. He's not so good when not in his familiar environment. But he has to learn sometime I suppose. Sam is excited to bring his Rock Band game down and have people to play with. I must admit, I've not been the best at playing XBox with Sam lately.
Well, hopefully next week we will have some exciting posts to share!

First Food

So we started solids today...rice cereal. He did really well, despite the mess. (We were expecting it though.) He seemed to enjoy it since he ate it all and still wanted more when he was done. Logan has no patience though, if Sam or I took what he thought was too long, he would start banging his fists on the tray of his high chair. It was very cute and we tried to get it on video, but Logan seems to know when the camera comes out and gets very shy. Oh well.

So Proud!

I realize that the majority of the blog entries are of Logan, but Sam and I don't do much and let's face it, Logan is our life right now. :) We love it!

For the past couple of days Logan has been trying to sit up by himself, but only managed to do so for a second or two. Well, today, he sat on his own for well over a minute before falling over and hitting his head on the toy behind him. No worries, it didn't seem to phase him one bit. He is 100% boy! I am just so proud of him! Only 5 months and sitting on his own all ready. Okay, okay, I'm not sure when exactly they are supposed to be doing this, but just let me brag. He's such an amazing kid.
