I told myself when I started this blog that I would never blog about my birthday. Well, I'm taking it back. Today is my birthday and it was such a perfect day, that I just have to blog about it.
It started with me waking up after 9am and realizing that I actually got to sleep in! It was an amazing feeling, which quickly vanished when I realized that Sam was going to be very late for work. When he told me that he had taken the day off, the amazing feeling came back. I was going to have a day off from taking care of the kids!!! That's really all I wanted. My wonderful husband gave me the option of him taking care of the kids while I went and did whatever I wanted to, or to pack up and go to the zoo. At first I thought it would be great to go do whatever I wanted to do, but knowing myself, I knew that I would go out for an hour or so, and then come back home, try to relax, only to hear the kids crying and screaming, and me racing down to help Sam take care of them. So, in the end, I chose to go to the zoo with the family. It was great. The weather was beautiful, and the kids had so much fun. Logan loved the penguins and Olivia fell in love with the Meerkats.
After the zoo, the kids took very long naps, which I can only assume was their present to me. (And I loved it!) During that time, Sam and I planned a trip to go to Maui in January. That is something that we have been looking forward to for quite some time and now only have to wait a few more months. Soon dinner time was approaching and Sam had one more birthday surprise for me. He took me out to dinner to El Gaucho. It was fabulous! The whole day was fabulous! I'm so glad that Sam stayed home to help with the kids and that we were able to do so much in one day. I may be biased here, but I think I've got the world's best husband.

Another fun day in the sun...and water
Since it was so hot outside, we decided to head out to Mukilteo Lighthouse Park on Saturday. The kids had a blast. Logan enjoyed spending lots of time throwing rocks into the water. We watched a ferry leave the terminal. We watched a ferry come into the terminal. We even saw 2 trains pass by while we were there. The kids were in heaven. It had everything they love...water, boats, trains, and a park. I enjoyed all those things as well, but also enjoyed the views of the mountains, and the lighthouse. I love the Seattle area!

A fun day in the sun..and water
My neighborhood playgroup went to Willis Tucker Park, in Snohomish, yesterday. We had been there before, only this time, I remembered the camera. Anything to do with water makes Logan one happy little boy. Olivia enjoys it as well, but I think it may be another year before she fully enjoys it as much as Logan. Of course, it would probably help if she didn't stick her face directly into the sprayer while it's off, only to have it turn on. (It was pretty hilarious to watch though.) I'm glad we are getting some summer weather around here, and that we can finally enjoy it!

My little artist
I bought Logan some watercolor paint the other day thinking that maybe he might enjoy it and give him something different to do. Well, it worked. He LOVED it! He kept talking about his "colors" all day. Now I know to keep some extra paper around the house. The kid can't get enough of painting and drawing.
